• For the first time, English Football League Championship Fans can watch a number of midweek games live via the red button on Sky Sports
  • Virgin Media is the cheapest and only place to offer #AllTheFootball for football fans from Sky Sports and BT Sport in one place

Football fans with Virgin TV will be able to watch all midweek English Football League Championship matches live for the first time through the red button on Sky Sports.

Starting on Tuesday night (21 August), Virgin TV customers who have Sky Sports added to their bundle can watch three matches, followed by five more on Wednesday (22 August), on Sky Sports Football (channel 503).

The matches will be available to customers through pressing the red button on their remote. This is on top of two live matches on Sky Sports Football on Tuesday and Wednesday evening when Leeds United takes on Swansea City and Brentford play Aston Villa respectively.

Tuesday matches available on the red button include: Derby County v Ipswich Town, QPR v Bristol City, Rotherham United v Hull City (all 7:45pm KO); on Wednesday night Blackburn v Reading, Norwich City v Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday v Millwall (all 7:45pm KO), Bolton Wanderers v Birmingham City and Stoke City v Wigan Athletic (both 8pm KO).

This is great news for Virgin TV Full House customers with Sky Sports that support any of the 24 teams playing in the English Football League Championship. There are eight rounds of midweek matches during the 2018/2019 season so there is plenty of action on offer for football fans over the coming year.

Virgin TV customers can also watch all above matches on the move on Sky Sports’ mobile app.

#AlltheFootball

Virgin Media is the ONLY pay TV provider that combines both Sky Sports and BT Sport channels – in High Definition (HD) – into its packages.

Its Full House TV bundle – powered by the UK’s fastest widely available broadband – allows customers to watch live football on both Sky Sports and BT Sport in HD for £79 a month. On average, Sky charge £102, BT £95 and TalkTalk £90 per month for a similar subscription.

Another reason to be excited ahead of the season is Virgin TV’s latest signing: the BT Sport 4K UHD channel. This isn’t available on Sky and will allow customers with a 4K UHD TV to get even closer to the action.

On top of football and other live sports on Sky Sports and BT Sport, Virgin Media customers can also access Eurosport and ESPN as well as FreeSports and Premier Sports which were recently added to the platform.

David Bouchier, Chief Digital Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media, said: “This is great news for our customers who follow a team in the English Football League Championship as they will be able to watch more of their side in action. This is a further boost to Virgin TV’s already strong sport offering and allows our customers to watch more live sport all in one place.”

ENDS

Starting Tuesday 21 August at 7:45pm on Sky Sports Football (channel 503) Virgin TV customers with Sky Sports added to their bundle will need to click the red button and select their game of choice
