Legendary DJ, Carl Cox, brought a new meaning to house music as he played an exclusive virtual set for Amersham local, Elroy Dias, on Friday night.

Elroy, who has lived in Buckinghamshire all his life, shared his living room with the world-renowned DJ after winning the noughties Ibiza-themed experience in a Virgin Media competition. With Carl live-streamed all the way from Washington DC, the intimate experience was made possible by Virgin Media’s ultrafast broadband.

Beating over 19,000 other entries to be crowned the lucky winner, Elroy received an exclusive virtual set from Carl, a set and DJ masterclass from supporting DJ Krystal Roxx who joined the party in person, a tech makeover, plus £1,000 worth of food and drink for them to enjoy with friends and family.

Elroy, who lives with his wife Sufia and two kids 17-year-old Rachel and 14-year-old Mark, was lost for words when he found out he’d won, having attended hundreds of music nights in the past and dreamt about seeing Carl Cox live for years.

Elroy said: “I couldn’t believe what I was hearing when I got the call from Virgin Media telling me I’d won. Today has been amazing, the whole living room has been transformed and when Carl appeared on screen we were just completely taken back.”

“We’re a very musical family so tonight has been so special to share an incredible experience together, I never thought we’d have a world-famous DJ perform live in our living room!”

DJ Carl Cox also said: “Being part of Virgin Media’s House Party and giving Elroy, Sufia and their friends such a good time together was an absolute joy. Despite being over 3,000 miles away in Washington DC, it was fun to join in the fun and play to them in real-time at their home in Amersham.”

The competition marked the close of Virgin Media’s Summer Jams campaign, which saw a six-week line-up packed full of great music and prizes, including the UK’s first inter-city connected club experience, Club Rewind where Carl Cox played a back-to-back alongside fellow Ibiza legend, Pete Tong, despite being 400 miles apart.

The noughties Ibiza themed event, Club Rewind saw London’s iconic Ministry of Sound and Glasgow’s Barras Art & Design centre transformed to bring back the Balearic scene from 20 years ago, after it was voted by a poll of 40,000 as the club era Brits would most like to revisit.
