As the sun set on London yesterday, an air of excitement settled on Piccadilly. Posh frocks were donned, hair expertly coiffed, and the opulence of Café de Paris shone brightly in preparation for the Mobile Awards 2013.

The comparison site’s annual awards are a pretty big deal –’s impartiality means that if you win one of these gongs, you know you’ve really earned it. This year’s nominees were selected using a national Mobile Awards Survey, before a panel of expert judges got their heads together to decide upoin the winners.

And O2 got a bit of good news…

We scooped the Best Pay Monthly Network and Best Perks / Freebies awards!

After careful deliberation, the judging team – which was hand-picked by’s Ernest Doku and included experts from the likes of Pocket Lint, Digital Spy and Mobile Choice – decided that O2’s ‘attractive packages, strong Priority perks and sterling reception’ were enough to bag the 2013 title for the overall best network.

And, thanks to our customers’ love for great perks, O2 Priority Moments picked up the gong for offering everything from free flip flops (try to say it fast 3 times) to delicious Dominos discounts. Add that to exclusive gig ticket access, and we’ve got ourselves an award-winning perks programme.

Just when we thought the night couldn’t get any better, Tesco Mobile scooped the award for one of the hardest-fought categories of the event – Best Network Coverage. Wondering why that’s a victory for O2? Well, Tesco Mobile uses our network to keep their customers connected. No joke.

And so, as the small hours of this morning approached, we were over the moon to be emerging from Café de Paris clutching some of the most sought-after awards in our industry whilst trying to hail a cab. Taxi!
