O2 people are celebrating after they were recognised at a European level for delivering the best service to its customers

Tesco Mobile, whose customer service is based in O2’s Bury call centre, was named best centre for customer service at the prestigious European Call Centre Awards 2009.

The team was one of six to be shortlisted from all over Europe for the awards which recognise the very best businesses for customer care.

Tesco Mobile is a joint venture between Tesco and Telefonica O2 UK which began in September 2003 and consistently receives top ratings from customers for helpful and friendly staff.

The Customer Service team is based at O2’s centre in Dumers Lane, Radcliffe.

Sarah Sargent, head of O2 at Bury, said she was so proud of the entire team.

‘It is true recognition for everything that they do to serve our customers and provide the best customer experience. I am very proud of all of them and the efforts they make every day,’ she said.

O2’s Customer Service centre in Dumers Lane, Radcliffe is the town’s largest private employer, with more than 1,200 people. It was named Best Contact Centre in the UK for 2007 in the National Customer Service Awards. This year saw the company mark 10 years business at the site.
