Hola!
The weekend has flown by and while we have not been in school there has been work to do.

We purchased some paint for the playground equipment in Atacames, and to paint a classroom in the escuelas of Sua and Esmeraldas. It was quite amusing trying to get all the paint, plus 3 volunteers, back to the hotel on a mototaxi – one of these things…

Mototaxi

2 of the Spanish volunteers took some time out on a local beach, so Jas, Julia and I spent some time browsing the local jewellery stalls and searching the Internet for ideas for our English classes. We also found a website that shows you show to make origami animals, I think this will go down well with some of the younger children.

After a much needed siesta and dinner, we met up with one of the school teachers, who also works at a local beach bar. She was insistent we do as the locals do and join her in drinking a Cuba Libre, consuming a Pina Hawayana dessert and dancing the evening away Ecuador style!

This morning we have sanded then repainted all the play equipment in Atacames. The sun has not been kind to us and we are all burnt and covered in rust! The slide is being repaired as I write, and new swings should be up soon. I will post before and after pictures once the work is complete.

Ciao for now!
