• Reality TV style show featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the Sugababes – from the makers of Big Brother

·        Exciting new concept that can only be seen on your O2 mobile phone ·        The first time fans of the Sugababes can truly interact with the band   On 12th May 2006, O2, Endemol UK and Island Records Group will launch an innovative new broadcast concept, ‘Get Close To…’ the first show to ever be filmed exclusively for and broadcast on mobile handsets.   For six weeks, O2 subscribers in the UK can ‘Get Close To…’ the Sugababes every day by receiving behind-the-scenes footage of the girls and sneak peeks into their daily lives, footage will be shot on the Nokia N90 handset. ‘Get Close To…’ will give viewers a real glimpse into the Sugababes lives behind the lens including footage shot by the girls themselves on their mobile phones.   This ground-breaking show is interactive – with a quiz and an ‘Over to You’ section featuring video challenges and suggestions posted by the fans. These will be watched by the Sugababes, and the girls will act on the suggestions of a select few. For the first time fans will be able to influence the actions of the girls.   The Sugababes comment, “Our fans are fantastic and this gives us a special way of talking to them and hearing what they think. We have our phones with us the whole time so it means you’ll see what we really get up to, and we’re thrilled to be the first band to do this.”   Russ Shaw, Marketing Director for O2 UK, comments “For O2, we always strive to provide our customers with exclusive content as well as pushing the boundaries of mobile technology. The key to the future success of mobile music services will be the creation of communities on mobile by letting fans interact with live music and their favorite artists. Indeed, this partnership with Endemol and Island Records Group not only allows us to offer O2 customers the first ever downloadable ‘TV show’ created specifically for mobile, but also provides incredible interaction with our customers who will be able to actually get involved with the programme.”   Peter Bazalgette at Endemol comments, “This will have the highest production quality like any TV show but it will be far more interactive. It’s wonderful that fans can now generate their own material and contribute it to this format.  It’s just the beginning of mobile content but it’s really exciting.  If I wasn’t already a fan of the Sugababes I’d now be becoming one.”   Nick Gatfield President of Island Records Group comments, “Music and mobile phones have started to work hand in hand over the past few years, allowing fans greater control over their music choices and additional access to the bands they love. The Sugababes have established an incredibly loyal fanbase through both their records and live performances and as well as allowing fans to get closer to the band, this show will give a real insight to what its like to be part of the UK music scene and demonstrate the capabilities of the Nokia N series.”   The Sugababes are the first girl band to have four top 40 hit albums of new songs in over 20 years – this includes Banarama, Destiny’s Child, The Bangles and the Spice Girls.   Thanks to three triple-platinum UK albums (“Angels With Dirty Faces”, “Three” and the latest album Taller In More Ways), over 1.5 million singles sold in the UK (including 11 Top 10 hits and four number one’s), a BRIT award, a Q Award, and two Elle Style Awards, the Sugababes have already secured their place in British music history as the most successful girl band of recent times.
