If you’re off for a day out with the masses this summer, O2 can help you get the most out of your day and your phone. Here’s how to weave your way around packed cities and plug-socket-free sporting venues without worry…

Avoid travel disruption
You can expect roads and public transport in London and to be much busier than usual. If you are travelling by car, our Trafficline 1200 Trafficline 1200 service can help you find out if there are any delays on your journey. Our Trafficline service costs 45p per minute and you can use it by calling 1200 from your mobile.

Top tips

You can do a lot to help yourself by making sure you are prepared in other ways – here’s our top three tips:

  • If you’re a Pay & Go customer, top up before you set off to ensure you have plenty of credit
  • Make sure your phone or tablet is fully charged before you leave to go to an event
  • Download any apps you may want to use on the day before you leave home

If you are thinking of travelling by coach, take advantage of our Priority Moments offer with National Express – you can get some nationwide trips for as little as £10.

In London? Why not stagger your journey, avoid peak hours and make a day of it – with Up at The O2 you can now visit and walk over the roof of The O2, one of London’s favourite landmarks.

Be prepared for possible network congestion
We’ve spent more than two years preparing our network to provide a good experience for all O2 customers in the places which we think will be busy. Despite this, in very busy periods there may be some problems making calls, sending texts or using data.

To reduce the likelihood of being affected by this you can use O2 Wifi. Thousands of free Wi-Fi hotspots are located throughout the UK – there’s a full map of them on our O2 Wifi site – if you’re in London you can also now use O2 Wifi throughout Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster.

Remember that the majority of O2 mobile customers can also use BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots for free as part of your tariff too. You’ll find it quicker to get started if you register for the service at BT Openzone hotspots in less congested areas – you can find information on how to do this here.
