O2, the UK’s No.1 network▲, has announced a partnership with Belong Gaming Arenas, marking the company’s biggest ever venture into the videogames sector.
To mark the occasion, O2 and its partners have revealed the Level Up Showdown, a high-stakes gaming tournament with a team led by actor and comedian James Buckley taking on a squad captained by radio presenter Chris Stark. The Level Up Showdown will be filmed at Oxford Street’s Belong Gaming Arena and live streamed via Belong’s official Twitch channel this Saturday 14th November, with a repeat the following day for those who missed out.
O2 customers will also be able to enjoy the livestream directly through the Priority app. Watching the event via Priority will unlock the chance to win one of over 400 gaming-themed prizes, including gaming headsets from HyperX, a Pro Series chair from GT Omega and a brand-new gaming PC courtesy of Chillblast. What’s more, customers can enter additional gaming prize draws, with the opportunity to win money can’t buy experiences like a family visit to the Pokémon Centre in Japan or an amazing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla-inspired trip to Norway.
The Level Up Showdown will pit the two teams against one another across some of the biggest franchises in gaming, including Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Fall Guys and Tekken 7. Each captain will be assisted by professional gamers, with smooya, Rage Darling, Leahviathan and King Jae all hoping they can help their side achieve victory. Plus, Belong’s very-own London Lionhearts Roo Kang and Gosain.
“Having been a gamer all my life I’m really excited to be part of O2’s biggest ever videogaming venture alongside Belong Gaming Arenas,” said James Buckley. “The popularity of gaming as a pastime continues to grow and it’s great to see a huge brand such as O2 getting involved in the sector, bringing its customers directly into the action via the Priority app – I wouldn’t mind some of those prizes myself! Chris Stark and I have had some friendly banter for a while now but I can’t wait for the weekend so I can finally show him who’s boss when my team wins the Level Up Showdown.”
