Following the huge success of the O2 Wireless Festival 2006, the festival with style is back for 2007. From June 14th – 17th, the festival will be heading back to London’s Hyde Park for four days of sensational live music, including exclusive headline performances from The White Stripes, Daft Punk, Faithless and Kaiser Chiefs, we predict a riot indeed! Joining them will be Queens of the Stone Age, CSS, Just Jack, Badly Drawn Boy, The Rakes, Editors, The Cribs and The Twang to name a few! Now in its third year the O2 Wireless Festival has firmly stamped its mark on the festival map. Last year saw the launch of the festival in Leeds, and both return for 2007, bringing the event back to two of the UK’s most cosmopolitan cities. First up this year The White Stripes will play their only UK show this summer as they bring some American rock to London on June 14th. The Grammy Award winning Detroit duo will showcase tracks from ‘Icky Thump’, their album out in June, kicking things off in true rock ‘n’ roll style. Joining them from the US will be the legendary Queens Of The Stone Age, this will also be the fellow hard-rockers only show in the UK, and with an album also out in June, the capital will be home to some serious US rock. Next up, it’s ‘Forever Faithless’ on June 15th as Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss and Rollo get set to enlighten the crowds with what is sure to be an electric performance. Far from ‘New Arrivals’ they will fill the open air with their eclectic dance tracks, proving once again that God really is a DJ! Proud to be playing on home turf Faithless says: “We are very excited to headline the O2 Wireless Festival 2007 in Hyde Park- it means a great deal to us to play in our hometown in such a special environment, and to support all the up and coming artists on the bill. Hyde Park is a beautiful space, it’s charged with so much meaning – it’s seen countless anti-war marches, grand orations in speakers corner, and rock n roll history has been made here too -as the politically charged London band that we are, that suits us down to the ground! We look forward to having a wonderful night.” Joining them will be Badly Drawn Boy, currently on a tour of the US and proving why he’s proud to be ‘Born in the UK’ with his 5th album out now. Lastly North London lad Just Jack will take to the stage, with his 2nd album ‘Overtones’ recently reaching no.6 in the charts and his single ‘Starz In There Eyes’ still riding the wave of success, having reached no.2, he is set to become one huge star indeed. June 16th will see the sensational Daft Punk take to the main stage as they headline the O2 Wireless Festival 2007. As one of the most successful electronic music collaborations of all time, the mysterious French duo are renowned for their phenomenal performances and ever-changing costumes, so prepare to party as they bring their funky sound to London’s Hyde Park for their only English performance this year. Joining Daft Punk in getting the crowds moving will be ‘New Ravers’ CSS, the extravagant Brazilian group are sure to get Londoners not just rocking but raving too. Kaiser Chiefs were undoubtedly one of the biggest success stories of 2006 they’re back, bigger and better for 2007 as they headline the final day of the O2 Wireless Festival 2007 on June 17th. Londoners are in for a treat as this is one of the only gigs that the Leeds lads will play this summer. With a number 1 single and album recently under their belts they will have the crowds dancing with delight as the highly acclaimed Leeds rockers take to the main stage the last day. Nick Hodgson from the Kaiser Chiefs says: “When we heard that Wireless was going to be in Leeds as well as London Hyde Park we were well up for it, and they’re letting us pick the bill for the day we’re headlining. It’s going to be massive and it’ll be our biggest headline shows to date. We’re going to start saving up for the lasers now” Hand picked by the Kaiser Chiefs, it will be ‘All Sparks’ as Birmingham boys the Editors showcase songs from their new album out in May. Joining them will be will be The Cribs, the Wakefield siblings are currently working on their third album and are delighted to be joining their buddies the Chiefs at the O2 Wireless Festival 2007. Next up the Rakes, nearing the release of their 2nd album ‘Ten New Messages’ and with the recent announcement of their biggest UK tour 2007 is set to be their year! The Twang will complete the line-up on the Friday, having recently picked up the ‘Philip Hall Radar Award’ at the ShockWaves NME Awards they are sure to keep crowds ‘Wide Awake’ with their single out March 19th. And if that wasn’t enough, look what else we’ve got lined-up for you… The O2 Wireless Festival will have something for everybody.
