There have been some big announcements at Mobile World Congress today – here’s our pick of the news.

Microsoft
Microsoft announced an update to their Windows Mobile operating system. Windows Mobile 6.5 features a redesigned front page and Windows Marketplace, where you’ll be able to purchase new applications for your phone using only your Windows Live ID. Nokia
Nokia also announced a store at MWC, called the Ovi Store. The Ovi Store will hold applications designed for Nokia phones, including those that run on Series 40 and Series 60 software. The Ovi store will eventually be built into phones, with the first phone running the software being the N97 which goes on sale in June. Cnet has more information here.

HTC
HTC has announced two new phones, following on from the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro, which we sold as the Xda Ignito and Xda Serra. To see pictures of the Diamond2 and Pro2, head to Gizmodo.

Sony Ericsson
Sony Ericsson has been promoting a 12 megapixel camera phone known only as Idou. It’ll come with a full touch screen and Gizmodo has some great pictures and videos here.
