O2 UK today announces the launch of the O2 Applications Centre of Excellence, a new programme designed to help partners meet the needs of corporate customers by developing and marketing innovative and bespoke applications. Working closely with an O2 team of sales and marketing managers, members of the programme will benefit from intensive support to help them market and sell their applications.
Highlighting its commitment to driving the applications market forward, O2’s Applications Centre of Excellence provides O2 with an opportunity to work with a wide range of innovative partners to develop and deliver leading edge mobile applications, ranging from sales force and field force automation, satellite navigation through to business continuity and contingency planning.
Building on O2’s existing relationships with application developers, which have already resulted in a range of innovative mobile applications being implemented for O2 corporate customers, the Applications Centre of Excellence offers a far deeper level of engagement with partners and introduces 3 new levels of partnership to enable more companies to be involved.
The key benefits of the programme include:
o Sales support – integration with O2’s Direct and Partner sales forces to educate the sales team over application selling points.
o Marketing support – use of O2 branding, opportunity to attend O2 customer events, access to marketing funds
o Technical support – access to O2 devices and visibility of O2’s device roadmap, access to enhanced technical support and access to lab testing
To qualify for the O2 Applications Centre of Excellence, partners will need to meet demanding qualifying criteria, including having signed up a certain number of business customers, adhering to agreed sales and revenue targets, a commitment to sharing new opportunities with O2 and sharing a true focus on delivering leading-edge mobile solutions within the business market.

The Applications Centre of Excellence is part of O2’s UK business strategy to take a more IT-focused approach to corporate and SME sales. O2 has also recently launched the Enterprise, M2M and Data Centres of Excellence which have all been specifically tailored to the area of business they cover, and aim to bring together experts in these areas to offer customers an integrated end-to-end offering.
