It’s hard to believe that just 11 weeks ago we switched on our 4G network for the first time in London, Leeds and Bradford. Since then we’ve rolled out 4G to 13 cities and over 120 surrounding towns, hitting our 2013 target six weeks ahead of schedule.
Edinburgh, Newcastle, Huddersfield and Rotherham were among the towns and cities to be switched on this week, extending the reach of our 4G network to over 17 million people in the UK, well over a quarter of the population. Indoor population coverage is now at 28% and there’s even more to come as we continue the fastest network rollout in O2’s history.
However, our work is nowhere near finished. We’re continuing to completely modernise our entire network and investing £1.5m every day on replacing and upgrading equipment to ensure our 2G and 3G networks continue to deliver the best experience for our customers. We’ll also continue rolling out our 4G network at a great pace, covering an additional 3M people over the next three months alone.
In the last few weeks we’ve also announced 4G on Pay & Go Go Go and mobile broadband, giving our customers even more ways to enjoy the benefits of 4G on their mobile, laptop or tablet, all on a tariff that suits them.
While it’s important to us that our 4G network reaches as many people as possible as quickly as possible, it’s equally vital that all of our customers understand exactly how this new technology can benefit their lives. To help with this, we’ve scoured social media to find the key 4G questions asked by consumers. You can find our answers here.
