The coverage checker, available at, lets users check O2 network coverage in any area of the country. A detailed coverage map shows O2 network coverage based on computer predictions of the outdoor and indoor signal reception. A Live Status Checker lets customers enter the postcode where they are and check for planned maintenance and the current status of the network in their area. 

The site also provides a ‘beginners’ guide’ to a mobile network, explaining in simple terms how a network works and what O2 does to provide coverage across the UK. 

Gavin Sheldon, Head of Networks at O2 said: ‘We believe it’s essential to provide transparency to both existing and potential customers so that they are able to make informed choices around our products and services. We think providing accurate, detailed information is much more useful to our customers than providing abstract percentages which may not mean much in terms of actual network experience.’
