O2 today announces the launch of O2 Tracks, which brings the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart direct to your phone, wherever you are and whenever you want it. The app makes chart tracks, as well as a changing selection of curated playlists, available for just £1 a week (following a two month free trial for O2 customers or a two week free trial for customers of other networks). It is available now for Apple and Android users with BlackBerry and Windows Phone versions launching soon.

“O2 Tracks allows you to access the most popular music directly on your mobile and for better value than ever before.”
Sally Cowdry, O2 Consumer and Marketing Director

O2 Tracks is the latest addition to O2’s music portfolio, existing of its partnership with the world’s most popular music venue, The O2, its association with the O2 Academy venues and O2 Priority, which has seen thousands of tickets made available to O2 customers for world famous artists like Beyoncé, Michael Bublé and Coldplay.

Updated over Wi-Fi

O2 Tracks makes keeping up with the latest music better value and easier than ever by automatically downloading chart updates overnight via Wi-Fi and storing the songs on the mobile. It brings together the best qualities of a streaming service (with the ability to access regularly-updated music) and the best of a mobile storage service (meaning customers can listen to music when they don’t have access to either a Wi-Fi or mobile network).

The tracks available in the app are updated weekly – with new entrants replacing songs that have drifted out of the Official UK Top 40 Singles. However, if a customer wants to buy a track and keep it permanently, they can do so directly from the app.

“O2 Tracks allows you to access the most popular music directly on your mobile and for better value than ever before,” said Sally Cowdry, Consumer and Marketing Director for O2. “O2 has built a heritage with music and offering exclusive experiences. That’s why our customers can enjoy two months free. Even after this promotion, our new app means you get the entire chart for little more than the price of downloading one track.”

Extra playlists too

As well as the Official Top 40 Chart, daily entertainment news, a Scott Mills app cast and celebrity gossip, O2 Tracks also includes Just In and O2 Playlists. These playlists are updated regularly and will reflect the latest music news, including headline hits during festival season or brand new music from breakthrough artists.

The app is available to download now on Apple and Android and will be available for Blackberry and Windows Phone very soon. Customers on O2 get a two month free trial and then pay £1 a week directly onto their bill for O2 Tracks while those on other UK networks have a two week trial and then £4.99 a month.
