Blackberry-tetheringWe’ve been showing you how to set up your smartphone to share its 3G with other devices around you. Android and iPhone owners have already had their step by step guide: now it’s the turn of all the BlackBerry addicts out there. Read on for an O2 tethering walkthrough, with clear tutorial videos to boot.

Hook up to a PC
A BlackBerry is great for surfing online, but sometimes when you’re out and about you need a slightly bigger screen. Luckily, you can do just that, using your BlackBerry’s super speedy 3G connection and sharing it to a Windows laptop. You’ll need a USB cable to connect the two, but other than that, you’re good to go. RIM’s BlackBerry Enterprise and Internet services are as secure as they get, so click away with peace and mind.

Install BlackBerry Desktop software
First thing’s first, whichever BlackBerry you own, you’ll need RIM’s free desktop manager software, which runs on any Windows machine. Just click on through to BlackBerry’s website, download and install it. Plug in your BlackBerry, open it, and you should see it in the sidebar. You can drag and drop files and music and back up your phone, but it’s also the way to get your laptop online on the go.

O2 tethering on BlackBerry 7

If you’re running one of the very latest BlackBerrys, such as the impressive BlackBerry Bold 9900, just follow the steps in the video below. If you’re on O2 Pay Monthly, you’ll just need to choose O2 UK in Tools>Mobile Settings, then click Mobile Internet in the bottom left hand corner, and you’ll be online.

O2 tethering on BlackBerry 6

If your BlackBerry smartphone runs a slightly older version of BlackBerry OS – a BlackBerry Curve 9300 or BlackBerry Bold 9700, say – the process is just the same. Check out the videos below for step by step guides from O2’s expert Gurus.

O2 tethering BlackBerry 5

If your phone is even older, fear not, you can still share your internet connection in just the same way. The BlackBerry Curve 8520 may be straight out of 2009, but as you can see in the video below, it’ll still get you online with your laptop with ease.
