Today O2 unveils the ultimate beach accessory, the O2 GuyFi service: a team of men of all shapes and sizes, employed to help bring free Wi-Fi to the beaches of Britain.

Following research revealing that a third (33%) of seaside visitors want free access to the internet on the beach, O2 has unleashed the human hot spots in Brighton and Southend.

“O2 Pocket Hotspots are so compact they can even fit in the pocket of your short shorts.”

Equipped with O2’s latest range of Pocket Hotspot devices, Louis Smith and the human internet hotspots will be deployed to help sun worshippers happily hashtag pictures of seaside donkeys, sun-kissed toes and stunning pink sunsets. What’s more, Louis and the team’s hotspots can also provide power to customers’ phone batteries, meaning they can connect to Louis in more ways than one.

Travelling from Brighton beach the team are continuing their ‘rescue’ mission by delivering fast and reliable 4G connection for the free Wi-Fi starved people of Southend.

Olympian Louis Smith, said: “I’m proud to lead the O2 GuyFi service as I totally understand the frustration of not having access to the internet especially in places where I want to show off. Now my team and I can help as we use our Pocket Hotspots to help those soaking up the sun to stay connected and share their summer selfies.”

Phil Maple, General Manager Consumer at O2 in the UK, adds: “For many of us, it’s important to stay connected when travelling or out of home. Mobile Wi-Fi devices mean it’s now easier for customers to send files to colleagues or between your gadgets while on the go; or to keep friends and family members updated with pictures and videos when out and about. O2 Pocket Hotspots are so compact they can even fit in the pocket of your short shorts and, as displayed by our trial “O2 GuyFi” service, are dependable and packed with lots of power.”

From today the O2 GuyFi team will be visiting the parks and beaches of Britain, flexing their muscles, and offering free internet access. Customers looking to get their hands on an O2 hotspot of their very own without picking Louis’ pocket can get the Huawei E5770 and 1GB of data for £11.50 per month with a £19.99 upfront payment from 26 August. As well as keeping you connected on the go, the Huawei E5770 also includes a built in battery charger to keep phones topped up with juice while customers top up their tan.
