How many people can you fit in a Mini? How many men does it take to change a lightbulb? How many customers are signed up to O2 Wifi? How many problems does Jay-Z actually have?

Only one of these questions* has the answer ’10 million’.

Did you guess it? As O2 Wifi turns three years old, there’s cause for a double celebration – a mind-boggling 10 million customers have signed up for the fast, free O2 Wifi connection available at thousands of locations across the UK.

Not quite content with having the UK’s fastest-growing wifi network**, we’ve also been out on the streets, asking Britons about their wifi lives – with some interesting results***. It turns out that almost 3 out of 5 people (or 58% to be exact) get online while they’re out shopping. Admittedly, a lot of this is just bored partners waiting outside changing rooms, but just over a fifth also go online to compare prices.

We even found that 20% of those we asked are frustrated – even sometimes angry – if a business doesn’t offer free wifi.  And one in seven people insist that wifi access is crucial to them when choosing which coffee shop they visit.

With O2 Wifi now available in locations like Debenhams, McDonald’s, Costa Coffee, Fuller’s pubs, House of Fraser and Mitchells & Butlers pubs across the UK, it’s easier than ever to join the 10 million people who are already getting fast, free wifi access while they’re out and about. Just register once and you’re in.

You don’t have to be with O2 to use O2 Wifi – to join free, head to http://o2wifi.co.uk.

Little writing:
* The answers to the other questions are as follows:
New Mini: 28, classic Mini: 23 / Usually just one, same as the number of women it takes / Probably less than 99, if we’re being honest.
** Fastest growing wifi network as measured by growth in registered users.
*** O2 conducted research amongst a representative base of 2,000 UK adults in February 2013 with OnePoll under strict Market Research Society Guidelines. So there.
