Xperia-Play-White The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is the realisation of a gaming fan’s dreams: A cutting edge mobile phone with dedicated gaming controls and a growing library of top notch titles, complimenting a great Android experience. It’s the once-mythical PlayStation phone made a reality, and it’s coming to O2.

With so many PlayStation classics reborn for the Android age and headed to the Xperia Play, we’ve put together a top 10 games to download on day one of ownership. Jump in!

Assassin's Creed: Altaïr's Chronicles
A prequel to the original Assassin's Creed, Altaïr's Chronicles is a 3D platform puzzler with a healthy dose of hack and slash battling and stealth challenges. Built to use the touch screen as well as the Xperia Play's gamepad, it includes touch-enabled mini-games alongside the main action.

Worms
Worms is one of the most compelling strategy games ever devised, and began its life way back in the days of the Atari. The game pits your group of heavily armed worms against a rival team of similarly combative creepy crawlies. The turn-based play makes it ideal for gaming on the go, and perfect for the Xperia Play.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock
Guitar Hero has always been about having fast fingers and the Xperia Play's gaming controls give it a major advantage over other mobiles. This edition of Guitar Hero features a healthy dose of classic rock, with bands like The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith on the set list.

Splinter Cell: Conviction
The sixth installment of the stealthy action adventure series, Splinter Cell: Conviction works brilliantly on a handheld. Sam Fisher's adventures play out in explosive episodes and the graphics look great on the Xperia Play's 4 inch screen.

Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot is a veritable PlayStation legend. It made its debut on the original PlayStation in 1996 and the anarchic marsupial has been running riot ever since. The fast-paced platformer makes the most of the Xperia Play’s controls, not to mention its graphical grunt, and is a killer time-waster.

FIFA 10
FIFA is arguably the greatest football game ever made and with the Xperia Play you'll be able to pop it in your pocket to play whenever you fancy. FIFA 10 has a huge selection of international teams to choose from and makes it easy to get scoring goals, rather than expecting you to master a baffling amount of button bashing.

Syphon Filter
You may be stuck on the bus or waiting for a train but with the Xperia Play in your hand you can quickly jump into Syphon Filter’s tale of international terrorism. The game was one of the first stealth adventures on the PlayStation One and definitely stands the test of time, reborn on the Xperia Play PlayStation phone.

Cool Boarders 2
Another much-loved title from the days of the original PlayStation, Cool Boarders 2 is all about pulling off nerve-jangling snowboarding tricks as you speed down the virtual mountain. Our favourite character is Grey, a little alien whose board is a miniature UFO.

Need for Speed SHIFT
The Xperia Play’s gaming controls and accelerometer practically scream out for a driving game. Need For Speed SHIFT is one of the best. It’s a hardcore racing title, focusing on careening around tracks in ultra-cool motors (including mind-blowing hyper-cars like the Bugatti Veyron).

Age of Zombies
Age of Zombies is a modern classic. It's a gloriously dumb, top down adventure game in which you play the moronic Barry Steakfries, gunning down hordes of cartoon zombies across history. Taking you from the Stone Age through to the present day and into the future, it's silly but satisfying at the same time.

Which games are you looking forward to playing on the Xperia Play? Let us know in the comments what’s on your must-play list!
