Ofcom’s research about broadband speeds in the UK is published today. The research shows the average speeds broadband customers get throughout the country and we’re happy it’s been released.

Ofcom’s conducted this research after announcing a voluntary code on broadband speed. You can read our thoughts on this here but in short we’re happy to have signed up to that too. Our research last year (more on that at this address) showed that one of the major problems broadband users have is connection speed, so it’s great this is happening.

Mike Fairman, Head of O2 Broadband, said “Customers should know what broadband speed they will get which is one of the reasons we perform speed checks for our customers. If Ofcom considers publishing ISP specific speeds, we would want data for all UK broadband service providers, including O2 Home Broadband, to be made available.”
