A further three UK start-up companies have been invited to join the London Wayra Academy this month after winning a competition to get seed funding, free office space, advice and support at the O2/Telefónica funded tech accelerator situated in Central London, just off Tottenham Court Road.

The space now houses 19 start-up businesses in total, across a broad range of tech industries ranging from education to security and dating to decisions. One place still remains at Wayra UK, which will be used to host an international start-up from one of the 11 other Wayra Academies across Europe and Latin America.

Ashley Stockwell, Guest Academy Director said: “We are really excited to welcome three new teams to our global accelerator. They will add further impetus to the start-up eco-system we are building within Wayra.”

He added: “We can’t wait to welcome an international start-up from our global network of Wayra academies very soon.”

The three latest additions to the London Wayra family are:

BuddyBounce: A platform that rewards fans for their passion and support and allow idols to transform casual fans into loyal fans.

Sustaination: A dating site for food enterprises, mapping food-webs to give the same data-driven advantage of big business to the rest of the market.

Platter: Platter turns home cooks’ photos into democratic food media. Their mission? To be the place you go to decide what to eat and where to get.

The new entrants will receive up to £40,000 in investment, while Wayra takes a 10% stake in each business. Wayra UK has also announced that it will be extending the programme for all its UK start-ups until the end of March 2013.
