Ever wanted to see what a Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch would look like on your arm but not been able to get your hands (or your wrists) on one? Good news – thanks to the magic of augmented reality and Android you can now try one on without leaving the comfort of…well, wherever you are. Meet our new app, Try Your Gear On with O2.
Try it on for size
Our new app’s free to download from the Google Play Store and lets you see how Samsung’s Galaxy Gear would look on your hand through your phone. All you need to do is download the wristband through the app (or grab it here), print it off and slap it around your wrist. Run the app, point it at the augmented reality band and your Gear should appear. You may need to move your phone slightly to get it to show and the app will work best in a well lit area on a white background, but once it’s there you’ll be able to tilt your arm – and your phone – to see both sides of the wristband and even the Gear’s built in camera. Plus you can change the colour of the wristband in the top right corner, watch Samsung’s awesome Gear advert in the bottom left and buy your own Gear from O2 using the shopping cart button.
Not on Android?
The Samsung Galaxy Gear’s compatible with a range of Samsung’s phones – the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Note 3 – and our app is only available for Android phones. But don’t worry if you’re not rocking an Android – we’ve got some Galaxy S4s to give away on our app’s launch day, 19 December. To win one, just follow @O2 on Twitter and tweet us “I want to #TryMyGearOn but need a new phone to do it!” We’ll then pick some lucky winners who’ll get their hands on one of Samsung’s newest mobiles.
We’d love to know what you think of the Gear, both in augmented reality and in, y’know, real reality, so drop us a note in the comments or tweet with #TryYourGearOn.
