Virgin Media O2 is marking Black History Month (1 to 31 October) with a special collection of on-demand programming celebrating the achievements and contribution of Black people in the UK and globally.
The ‘Black History Month’ collection, which is available for Virgin TV customers from today (1 October), features and celebrates Black talent from across music, entertainment, film and sport, and reflects the theme for this year’s Black History Month – ‘Proud to Be’. The collection also highlights racism and inequality experienced by the Black community.
The programming includes spectacular performances from artists such as Beyoncé – live from her ‘I Am…The World Tour’ (Sky Arts), hard-hitting documentaries including ‘8 minutes 46 seconds: The Killing of George Floyd’ (Sky Documentaries), legendary sitcoms such as cult classic, Desmond’s (Channel 4), and must-watch movies including Judas and the Black Messiah (Sky Cinema).
David Bouchier, Chief TV & Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media, said:
“We’re proudly celebrating Black History Month with a fantastic collection of shows, documentaries, music and movies featuring a wealth of Black talent whose achievements and experiences have made a significant and lasting impact on society.
“Whether it’s watching the incomparable Beyoncé live in concert, being knocked out by the true story of heavyweight boxer George Foreman or shedding a tear to Will Smith’s performance in the ‘Pursuit of Happyness’, our on-demand line-up will keep Virgin TV customers entertained and informed during Black History Month.”
