Ibiza legends Pete Tong and Carl Cox tonight played a back-to-back set 400 miles apart at Club Rewind, the UK’s first inter-city connected club experience.

The noughties Ibiza themed event saw London’s iconic Ministry of Sound and Glasgow’s Barras Art & Design centre transformed to bring back the Balearic scene from 20 years ago, after it was voted by a poll of 40,000 as the club era Brits would most like to revisit.

Celebrities including Olivia and Alex Bowen, Kimberly Wyatt, Curtis and AJ Pritchard and Abigail Rawlings were joined by social media influencers and music fans to relive the sounds and scenes of the White Isle for one night only.

The livestreamed event saw Pete Tong and Carl Cox reunite virtually, alternating noughties Ibiza tracks as they went back-to-back while 400 miles apart, with the set streamed into both venues simultaneously – all powered by Virgin Media’s gigabit broadband.

The venues were decked out by Ibiza club designers who reimagined the turn of the millennium with today’s tech. The crowds attending in both London and Glasgow were brought together virtually in the build up to the headline set, which included a co-ordinated light display via wristbands.

Support acts Franky Wah, Becky Tong, Krystal ROXX and Bushwacka warmed up the crowds who attended in person, after winning tickets in a ballot that gathered more than 40,000 entries.

Father and daughter duo Pete and Becky Tong shared the bill as research from Virgin Media found that families who listen to music together form better bonds (42%) and are less likely to argue (32%).

Ibiza legend Pete Tong added: “Since Becky was young, we have always connected over music. It’s great that she’s making a career from it now too. But before that, there have been countless occasions where we’ve introduced one another to music or artists we love, and it was just something we could enjoy together.

“It was great to be playing on the same bill at Virgin Media’s Club Rewind and enjoy the other acts together as music fans too”.

Sonny de Pellette, aged 21 from Glasgow, was one of the lucky fans who got to meet Carl Cox after his grandad won tickets through Virgin Media’s competition. Close to tears, he describes the moment he met the Ibiza legend, “That was the best moment of my life. I’ve known Carl’s music since I can remember, my mum and dad are massive fans and even caught his last ever night at Space Ibiza back in the day. He’s an absolute hero in my family.”

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “At Club Rewind, we brought hundreds of people together by bringing back an iconic music scene from 20 years ago, reimagined with today’s tech.

“Ibiza legends Pete Tong and Carl Cox performed a live back-to-back set while 400 miles apart, all made possible with our gigabit broadband service, Gig1.”

Virgin Media’s Club Rewind took place on Wednesday 22nd September at London’s Ministry of Sound and Glasgow’s Barras Art & Design Centre. Those who want to find out more can visit www.virginmedia.com/clubrewind
