Virgin Media O2’s mobile and fixed networks have been recognised again at this year’s Uswitch Telecoms Awards, with the company taking home two major honours for broadband reliability and mobile coverage.
Virgin Media was named Most Reliable Broadband Provider, reflecting the consistent performance of its broadband network in millions of homes across the UK. At the same ceremony, O2 was awarded Best Mobile Network Coverage, recognising the scale, reach and reliability of its mobile network.
The awards are based upon rigorous testing using real-world experience of users across the UK through Opensignal’s research and highlight the continued focus Virgin Media O2 places on delivering strong, reliable connectivity for customers wherever they are.
Jeanie York, Chief Technology Officer at Virgin Media O2, said: “These awards are a great recognition of the strength of both our fixed and mobile networks and the investment we continue to make to improve reliability and coverage for our customers.”
“Whether it’s dependable broadband in the home or mobile coverage people can rely on across the country, our focus is on delivering a consistent, high-quality experience every day. It’s fantastic to see that recognised by Uswitch.”
The awards follow a c. £700m investment in the mobile network last year through Virgin Media O2’s Mobile Transformation Plan, which is focused is on expanding 4G and 5G coverage, deploying small cells to boost capacity in dense urban areas, and tackling persistent network pain points including along railway lines, at airports, on motorways, and in stadiums and arenas across the UK.
Virgin Media O2 is also in the process of rolling out smart support to all of its customers, a 24/7 broadband speed and connection monitoring service which aims to help combat connectivity issues before they arise so customers can enjoy a smooth and seamless connectivity experience.
