Chill out, get down and rock out as Air, Kelis, Plan B, New Young Pony Club, Calvin Harris, Simian Mobile Disco and Digitalism get set for a sizzling summer at the O2 Wireless Festival 2007. Now in its third year the festival with style is back for 2007. From June 14th – 17th the O2 Wireless Festival 2007 will be heading back to London’s Hyde Park for four days of sensational live music and the line-up just keeps getting bigger and better. Joining the White Stripes on June 14th will be the ‘Sexy Boys’ from Air. Filling the atmosphere with their melodic sounds the French duo will take to the XFM stage at Hyde Park. With their recent album release ‘Pocket Symphony’, and having just embarked on a European tour, Air will bring a chilled out vibe to London this summer. Next up, on June 15th, is the rather ‘Tasty’ Kelis. Renowned for her live performances, the sensational songstress was recently nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 2007 Grammy Awards and is working on her upcoming 5th studio album. Kelis will stamp her mark on the O2 Wireless Festival 2007 – ‘Kelis Was (most definitely) Here’. On June 16th East London rapper, Plan B will bring his unique acoustic beats and controversial lyrics to the main stage. With a new album in the mix and one-off live tracks continually posted on his myspace site the local lad will show off his unmistakable sound. On the same day the XFM stage will play host to Modular Records artists and will see performances from some of the most exciting young talent around. First up is possibly one of the hottest bands around, New Young Pony Club. After wowing the masses on the ShockWaves NME ‘indie rave’ tour and selling out their London warm up dates in less than a day, the five-piece London band are sure to impress. Joining them will be Calvin Harris. The Scottish electronic musician recently reached number 10 in the charts with his single ‘Acceptable In The 80s’ and is currently supporting British dance band Faithless on their upcoming UK tour. The XFM stage will also be home to remix team, Simian Mobile Disco. The duo will be releasing their first album on June 4th and are sure to show why ‘It’s The Beat’ this summer. Last up will be German electric duo Digitalism, having remixed tracks for headliners Daft Punk, Tiga, Klaxons, Depeche Mode, Cut Copy and many others. Their debut album ‘Idealism’ will be released on May 21st and will prove that they have their fingers firmly on ‘The Pulse’. We can also confirm that, joining Kaiser Chiefs on June 17th US rockers The Films, The Little Ones and Wolverhampton lads Ripchord. Now in its third year the O2 Wireless Festival has firmly stamped its mark on the festival map. Last year saw the launch of the festival in Leeds, and both return for 2007, bringing the event back to two of the UK’s most cosmopolitan cities. And if that wasn’t enough, look what else we’ve got lined-up for you… The O2 Wireless Festival will have something for everybody. Not just music, but the ultimate festival experience this summer….right on your door step. Creating a truly exciting and totally authentic live outdoor music atmosphere four stages will be erected at London’s Hyde Park, along with the original acoustic band stand allowing people to pull up a deck chair and chill out to the melodic sounds. But it’s not just about the music, with a thrilling fairground, chill out areas, street theatre, performance art, markets, world food caterers and a five aside football pitch, the O2 Wireless Festival 2007 goes the extra mile and offers the music lovers the opportunity to enjoy the very best of the festival experience, plus much more. Going out of their way to make life easy for Londoners, festival organisers have also arranged secure lockers that can be booked in advance. These ensure that locals can jump off the tube, pop their valuables in a locker and leave the day behind them, as they enjoy this fantastic 4 day festival. Extra special treats are also in store for O2 customers and their friends, courtesy of the O2 blueroom. Simply by texting BLUEROOM to 60600 (standard rate applies), O2 customers will get exclusive access to the O2 blueroom and enjoy their own private stage where the hottest undiscovered bands will be playing everyday. And if it’s all too much for them, O2 music fans can simply put their feet up in the O2 blueroom and enjoy a drink, whilst receiving an array of healing treatments from Reiki and Kinesiology to relaxing foot and head massages. “The O2 Wireless Festival goes from strength to strength and this year’s line-up further cements its reputation as one of the UK’s top music events. We’re proud to have been involved since the start and seen it flourish over the past three years,” said Sally Cowdry, marketing director, O2 UK. “Once again, O2 customers will be able to benefit from an enhanced Festival experience, including advanced access to tickets, special areas on site and lots more. With the O2 Wireless Festival and the opening of The O2, music lovers are in store for a treat this summer.” With Channel 4 and XFM broadcasting highlights from the event, the O2 Wireless Festival looks all set to be both London and Leeds’ live summer music event of the year.
