Jeanie York, Chief Technology Officer, Virgin Media O2

As a woman in leadership #EmbracingEquity, this year’s theme for International Women’s Day is something I feel very passionate about. Especially as by embracing equity, we can help to break down barriers and encourage more women to progress careers in Technology, where today we make up just 26.7% of technologists.

Alongside the great things we’re doing at Virgin Media O2 to close the gender gap, I’m also proud that we’re collaborating with everywoman as a sponsorship partner for their awesome Tech Hub. Everywoman connects women, businesses, and organisations all over the world with inspiring and educational content and their Tech Hub is a great go-to space for women in technical roles looking to expand their careers.

For me though, it’s not just about what we’re doing as an organisation, it’s also important that this is a focus for our partners and suppliers too, as to make a change we all need to #EmbraceEquity. Companies with greater diversity, in every aspect, are more successful as they are more able to respond to challenges and meet the needs of different customers bases.*
