As the Belfast Giants gear up to defend their Motorpoint Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) title, the club proudly unveiled its new set of 2026/27 jerseys, marking the start of an exciting new era as O2 begins its title sponsorship of the only professional ice hockey team in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Following the announcement of a new 10-year naming rights agreement, which saw Belfast’s premier leisure, entertainment, and education destination become The O2 Belfast in July, the Belfast Giants’ home, away, alternate, and Challenge Cup jersey reveals represent the next chapter in a landmark partnership between one of the UK’s leading telecoms and entertainment brands and the current EIHL champions. The title sponsorship also represents O2’s first venture into professional ice hockey – a significant investment in one of the UK’s fastest-growing indoor sports and one of Northern Ireland’s most prominent professional sports teams.

Brought to life through the ‘Legends. Not Myths’ campaign, which features real fans and famous faces including Carl Frampton and head coach Adam Keefe, the jersey lineup proudly and prominently features O2’s iconic logo on the torso, with the Giants joining England men’s and women’s international rugby teams – a partnership that spans over 30 years – as the only professional sports teams currently title-sponsored by O2.

As part of O2’s title sponsorship, Priority from O2 members will receive 20% off all 2026/27 Belfast Giants jerseys, both online and in-store, alongside 48-hour pre-sale access to season tickets. Additionally, O2 mobile customers can also benefit from boosted 4G and 5G+ connectivity at the Giants’ home venue, following new upgrades to the network that ensure each area of the arena has the capacity to deliver a great mobile experience for customers – even when events are sold out.

The 2026/27 jersey collection blends tradition with a fresh, contemporary look, delivering four distinctive designs that reflect the Belfast Giants’ legacy and identity while marking the beginning of a new era for the club. Leading the collection is the new core home jersey, which makes club history as the first to feature an all-over teal design, with the club’s signature colour extending across the jersey, shorts, and socks for the first time to create a bold, unified look that remains unmistakably Giants.

The white away and black alternate jerseys draw inspiration from classic ice hockey styling, combining the club’s traditional colour palette with subtle accent detailing to create clean, timeless designs. Completing the collection is the vibrant new Challenge Cup jersey, which takes a more adventurous approach through a striking new colourway, incorporating 10 per cent of the club’s iconic teal to maintain a connection to the Giants’ identity, while delivering one of the boldest and most distinctive jerseys the club has unveiled in recent years.

Steve Thornton, Sports Director at The Odyssey Trust, said: “Unveiling a new jersey is always an important moment ahead of a new season, and we’re delighted to see O2 take its place on the front of a Belfast Giants jersey for the first time. This partnership brings together two organisations with strong connections to people across Northern Ireland and a shared ambition to deliver outstanding experiences across the board. As O2’s first professional ice hockey partnership, it’s a significant milestone for both organisations and one we’re proud to be a part of.

“We’re looking forward to working closely with O2 throughout the season, not only in creating the best possible experience for our supporters on game nights, but also through opportunities to engage with the wider community. We’re excited about what this partnership can achieve for the club, our fans, and the sport as a whole.”

Gareth Griffiths, Director, Partnerships and Sponsorships at Virgin Media O2, said: “Seeing the O2 logo on the new Belfast Giants jersey marks an exciting start to our partnership with the team and the next evolution of O2’s longstanding commitment to sport. Having proudly sponsored England Rugby for more than 30 years – a partnership which has seen O2 become the first brand to commit marketing parity in the sport, help close the gender awareness gap, and commission an award-winning content series – we are excited to make a positive impact in professional ice hockey and bring fans closer than ever to the reigning EIHL champions. From exclusive rewards on Priority to pre-sales and enhanced connectivity at The O2 Belfast, this really is just the beginning – we’ll see you at a game soon.”
