Virgin Media O2 is here and we’re on a mission to supercharge the UK. Our broadband and mobile networks already connect millions of people across the country, but as a business we’re committed to doing more to bring people together, accelerate positive social and environment change and promote a sense of community belonging as we push ahead with our mission to upgrade the UK. That’s why our first act is to launch the Together Fund, to supercharge hundreds of local charities across the UK as the nation emerges from the pandemic.

For so many of us, charities and volunteers have been the lifeblood of our communities over the last twelve months – supporting those most impacted by the pandemic and ensuring that no-one is left behind. So we’re starting as we mean to go on, by investing in communities and good causes that are already making positive change happen across the UK.

The Virgin Media O2 Together Fund will support local charities that champion and celebrate community spirit, belonging and togetherness across the UK. Grants of £1,000 are available for environmental and community belonging projects, inspiring people across the UK to get together and create positive change for the causes they care most about. The fund will concentrate support to projects and initiatives that aim to either:

  • Reduce loneliness and isolation and promote a sense of community belonging, or
  • Inspire positive action to enhance and protect nature and the local environment

The Together Fund forms part of Virgin Media O2’s support for the Together Coalition which aims to bring people together to help build a kinder, closer and more connected society. Wherever possible, funding will be made available in time for the Together Coalition’s national #ThankYouDay, which takes place on Sunday 4th July.

The fund itself, which follows the launch of Virgin Media O2 on 1 June, will be distributed via Neighbourly which has over 16,500 community-based good causes already registered on its platform. Interested local charities can register and apply for free at neighbourly.com.

As we emerge from lockdown, we have a unique opportunity to create more connected and resilient communities, and I’m thrilled that Virgin Media O2 is playing its part in recognising and supporting local charities to continue their amazing work.
